learning to let go

Today, I attended a nude drawing session and enjoyed the process and the progress!
I got some great tips like, for example, that you should absolutely relax your arm, hand and fingers -I dropped the pencil several times- and your wrist does the job. We were told -and I felt relieved- that precision comes with time and that we should concentrate on the line and just stop when we doubt, concentrate again, look and continue.
Once more, I was reminded about how important it is to just let go... don't care about lines, don't care about mistakes -you are just drawing, what can go wrong?-, don't care about anything and just let the line flow... let it go.

Here one of my sketches.
(About the shadow at the bottom: that's what happen when you wait until the last minute of the day to take a picture with a very ordinary camera...)

portrait of a disappeared garden

Hi there,
again I had to change plans... The plan was to show a portrait I was supposed to draw today. Don't misanderstand me! I did draw it but, after all the time I spent with it, I was so disappointed that I refuse to show it. So, I will post something different instead.

A couple of days ago I opened a little box I had kept closed (with precinct!) for six years (no kidding). The little box survived the multiple movings of the last years and contains very valuable stuff like pictures, beautiful postcards I collected, letters, nices envelopes and little things. One of the treasures I found in it is a drawing I made (at least 6 years ago) depicting a garden -in which I spent many hours- and which does not exist anymore... Sadly, the garden -and the house it was attached to- were torn down to be replaced by a parking area! Here it goes, a piece of my past (I definitely have to do something with this sketch...)

golden leaves

Not very sure about how it will turn out... I spent the day thinking, thinking, looking for a little piece of creativity, searching every corner to find something special. The day was actually full of little special moments like the lunch, the walk around the pond, the playgrounds... but somehow, since it was a Holiday, I was never alone and did not really have the time to sit and "produce" anything. Strange day. I felt at first very hungry, then very tired, then hungry again... and soon I'll be heading to bed.

Anyhow, it was getting dark and it was more and more clear to me that I would not be posting anythig today (what a sad beginning, right?) when all of a sudden, I saw the tree out the window. There it was... happy to receive the last rays of the day, which -unexpectedly- turned his uppermost leaves into gold...

A fast drawing to illustrate a little thought I had while racing for the tram!

IF - Spooky

Sabertooth Cat (Smilodon Californicus Bovard) USA.

Yesterday, I visited the Palaeontological Museum in order to do some sketching. Here I post one of the drawings... quite spooky, oder?
